Radio Debut

IN THE WORKS

So here's my playing "Kay the fangirl" on Seattle's MOViN 92.5

*"Kay the fangirl" is purely a work of fiction with no basis in real life.*

Its 11pm do you know where Kirsten is?

Guess what, Kirsten is still in the library on campus...
Its the week before finals and here I am studying like a good student.
I've been here since 12:30pm.
I've been up since 5:30 am.
The library closes at 12:00am.
I haven't eaten dinner.
This is freaking awesome...
I deserve an A in psych for this.

Take Back the Night

STOP RAPE!
That was tonight's message at the Take Back the Night 2010 March in Bozeman. It was fantastic and very empowering. We marched from the SUB on campus to the Baxter Hotel on Main Street to enjoy a free concert titled "Rock Against Rape".  I had an awesome time and got to chill with some amazing people!

For my mom

Saw this and thought of my mom.

I love you so much mom.

I promise you aren't an ATM to me, you're a loving provider, and the safe house for my journey through life. You keep my going even when everything seems lost. I would never have gotten through these first few years of college without all of the support you've given me.

I love you so much mom and I always will.

Piecing- Done

So here are all 9 of my blocks for my Sampler Quilt! I think it turned out quite nicely.

Blocks from top to bottom, left to right:
Sawtooth Star,
Pinwheel, Spools,
Log Cabin, Log Cabin Variation, Railfence,
Bearclaw, Double Nine Patch,
Wild Goose Chase.

I love them all and thing they all turned out fairly well! You can click the picture to see enlarge it.

Now, I need to hand quilt the blocks with the batting and backing. Next class I'll learn how to put them all together!!! I'm very excited!

Fall 2010

So, I've applied to get into WSU but they're taking forever so to cover my ass I signed up for classes at MSU this next fall semester.

I'm taking:
  • Oceanography
  • Fund. of Music Creation
  • Social Statistics
  • Myth and Metaphor
  • Organism Function

Basically, I'm getting all my ridiculous core done (Hence Music and Oceanography) so I can full on focus on my Sociology stuff starting Spring 2011!

My reasoning for transferring to WSU is that MSU does not have the major I'd like to pursue (Crim. Justice) but for now I'll work on Sociology!

Ugh

So having one of those stupid hormonal girl moments and whatever... just realized how much my silly cat really means to me... I love her so much... Thought I'd share that little thought.

Update/ Easter weekend

Easter weekend has come and gone and what a weekend it was!

I spent Friday and Saturday at the 2010 Spring MSU Pow-wow working as a security guard. Yes, me a security guard, I know ridiculous right? Well I worked from 3p to 12a on Friday and 12p to 2a on Saturday. Crazy eh? My friend Kim came down for a few hours on Saturday to work with me and we were hands down the hottest security guards in the whole building! I got a free Indian Taco (taco filling on frybread, YUM!) every 4 hours I worked, an awesome tshirt after 10 hours of work, and incredible personalized jacket after 20 hours of work! I'm so excited to get my jacket!!! Hopefully, it will be in my the end of April and before I leave Bozeman!

Easter was spent with the Vosler family. They made me up a nice little candy easter basket and allowed me to spend the whole day! Thanks Voslers!

The sad realization has hit me that I only have 5 weeks left in Bozeman, and I'm trying to make the most of it! Going to chill with friends as much as possible!

The Tan Horse

The Tan Horse

By Kirsten Nelson

The train rocks back and forth,

Swaying gently like a leaf upon the breeze,

I'm finally going home,

After so much time away,

Rida Rida Ranka,

I hear the voices of my past come back to me,

My fathers lap underneath my little body,

Him bouncing his legs to create a mock horse,

Hasten Hestar Blanka,

His words gentle in my ears,

The tan fabric of his slacks clutched in my little hands,

A tan horse beneath my legs,

Riding through the wilds of the west,

After the no-good bandit Jesse James,

The sky is mystic blue,

Clouds are puffy and soft,

I'm free as the wild coyote,

Vart Ska Va Rida?

He laughs as I squeal in excitement,

As the last line of the rhyme starts,

He'll toss me up high like a bird,

As free as the eagle,

Rida Sta Och Fria

The rhyme will end,

He'll tell me he loves me,

And I'll beg for him to start again,

Once again he'll laugh and say,

"Just one more time, and then to bed"

And we will start again,

A woman knocks on the compartment door,

Asks me if I'm hungry,

Reality comes rushing back,

The compartment blank and cold,

The vinyl sticky against my skin,

And I remember where I am,

Do I let the past go free?

Or hold it down forever?

De vilja stilla bo på för alltid
